The 23rd of February, 2025, dawned as a resplendent day, etching itself into the annals of Aravalli-Sabarkantha and Gujarat. A beacon of hope, radiating towards the indigent and ailing inhabitants of the Aravalli region, was ignited with the commencement of a cutting-edge, multi-specialty hospital within the Vartak Hospital precinct. This prodigious endeavor, a testament to visionary ambition, was undertaken in the remote heartland of Aravalli by the globally esteemed Dr. Anil Shah, a son of Gabat village, Aravalli, now residing in the United States. The inaugural groundbreaking ceremony, marking the inception of this transformative project, was ceremoniously conducted by Dr. Anil Shah himself.

While Dr. Anil Shah's eminence resonates profoundly within the United States and across international spheres, his persona might remain veiled to the populace of Aravalli. Thus, let us embark on a journey to illuminate the life and contributions of this remarkable visionary.

Gabat: A Cradle of Luminaries and Dr. Shah's Lineage

Dr. Anil Shah's ancestral lineage traces back to the venerable village of Gabat in the Aravalli district, a land that has bestowed upon the nation and the world a constellation of illustrious figures. Who can forget the unwavering devotion to his homeland exhibited by the revered Mr K. K. Shah, former Governor of Tamil Nadu and former Cabinet Minister? Gabat is his birthplace. His son, Mr. Prakash Shah, despite decades of residence in America, remains deeply connected to his roots, tirelessly striving to elevate India to a state of divine and fearless grandeur. And it is within this very soil that Dr. Anil Shah's own roots are firmly entrenched.

From Gabat to Mumbai

Dr. Anil Shah's father, Dr. V. V. Shah, a luminary of his era, was a distinguished researcher and physician of exceptional intellectual prowess. Some seven or eight decades ago, he ventured from Gabat to Mumbai for academic and professional pursuits, ultimately settling there. Anilbhai's birth occurred in Mumbai, and under the sagacious guidance of his father and the nurturing love of his mother, he and his two brothers flourished. Their education was also completed in Mumbai.

A Journey to Excellence: Dr. Shah's American Odyssey

Upon completing his medical studies, Young Anil Shah embarked on a transformative journey to America, seeking further education and professional advancement. In the New World, he dedicated himself to relentless pursuit, laboring tirelessly day and night. This unwavering commitment propelled him to unparalleled expertise in his field. He rose to prominence as a highly skilled cardiac physician in America, establishing a thriving practice. As the founder and CEO of Coastal Heart Medical Group, and the founder and owner of numerous multi-specialty hospitals, he oversees a vast network of approximately 4,000 doctors, nurses, and support staff. True to the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, which asserts that diligent effort never goes unrewarded, Dr. Anil Shah's unwavering dedication yielded immense recognition and prosperity. Yet, amidst his ascent to the pinnacles of success, he remained steadfastly grounded, never allowing the blessings bestowed upon him to engender arrogance. Instead, humility and simplicity became the defining ornaments of his character.

In today's era, many individuals who achieve prosperity abroad become so enamored with the materialistic lifestyle that they forget not only their homeland but also their own parents. However, Dr. Anil Shah has never forgotten his country, his motherland. A spark has always burned in Dr. Anil Shah's heart: "What can I do for my country, for my homeland, to elevate the standard of living of my people? What can I do to ensure that my fellow countrymen also prosper?" It has been his nature to give back to society what he has earned. He has donated millions of dollars in America and India. Dr. Anil Shah's two daughters and their husbands have also joined hands, wholeheartedly dedicating themselves to this cause with their time, mind, and resources.

Smart Village Movement: The Rural Transformation

Dr. Anil Shah, driven by the noble aspiration to establish cutting-edge educational, healthcare, and employment facilities in India's villages, initiated the Smart Village Movement. In 2019, he joined forces with UC Berkeley Professor Solomon Darwin, propelling the movement to greater heights. Under their leadership, SVM has fostered collaborations between villages, universities, governments, and corporations, executing diverse projects aimed at enhancing agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructure in rural areas. The Smart Village Movement is diligently working to transform approximately 1200 remote villages across various Indian states, including Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. He serves as the Executive Chairman of the Smart Village Movement (SVM) in India.

Dr. Anil Shah's contributions have garnered global recognition, earning him numerous prestigious international accolades. In October 2021, UC Berkeley honored him and his wife, Priti Shah, as 'Builders of Berkeley.' Furthermore, in 2023, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his unwavering dedication to rural development through the Smart Village Movement."

His Unwavering Principles

Dr. Anil Shah regards his father as his role model. He believes that while an 8-hour workday can sustain a family, achieving extraordinary success necessitates relentless, unbounded effort. He asserts that unwavering dedication guarantees success. He advocates that every Indian must embrace self-discipline and cleanliness, shed lethargy, and diligently pursue their life goals to transform India into a developed nation.

The Vartak Hospital: A Catalyst for Change

Dr. Anil Shah's family has generously contributed substantial funds towards the construction of a state-of-the-art multi-specialty hospital at Vartak. Dr. Anil Shah envisions equipping the hospital with cutting-edge facilities surpassing those found in private hospitals. Upon its operationalization next year, the hospital will serve as a boon to countless needy and impoverished patients. The heartfelt blessings of thousands of impoverished patients' families will perpetually shower upon Dr. Anil Shah's family. Honorable Prakashbhai Shah has also significantly contributed to the development of Vartak Hospital. Under the able leadership of Honorable Sujataben Shah and the collaborative efforts of her team, the hospital is being outfitted with state-of-the-art amenities.
