Truth, temperance, and discipline are the triumvirate of virtues that pave the way to success. : Mr Prakash K Shah
The wisdom gleaned from discourse with an erudite, discerning, and seasoned individual surpasses that obtainable from perusing a thousand tomes. The venerable Mr. Prakash Shah is precisely such a rare luminary. A veritable walking encyclopedia, he journeys ceaselessly across the globe. During an encounter with this global powerhouse, I was compelled to inquire, 'Sir, what is the quintessential secret to life's triumphs?'
Mr. Prakash Shah's insightful reply has served as a catalyst for intellectual growth among the youth of today.
Reverend Mr Prakash Shah, in response to my inquisitive query, eloquently stated that...
Discipline is the compass that guides one through the labyrinth of life. A triad of influential figures—the mother, the father, and the teacher—play a pivotal role in shaping an individual's destiny. The mother, as the first educator, imparts the fundamental principles of morality and discipline. The father, as the provider and protector, instills a sense of purpose and direction. The teacher, as a mentor and guide, illuminates the path to knowledge and self-discovery. Through their collective influence, these three figures can elevate an individual to heights they may not have imagined. History is replete with examples of such teachers who have elevated their students from ordinary individuals to exceptional leaders.
The insatiable desire to acquire what others own is a psychological affliction. It is a fallacy to believe that material possessions are the sole determinants of happiness. In reality, contentment, wealth, and fulfillment are contingent upon adhering to three core principles.
By integrating truth, temperance, and order into one's life, a profound transformation occurs, leading to an exemplary existence.
Truth is the ultimate reality, revered in our scriptures as synonymous with the divine. Gandhiji, through the power of truth and nonviolence, dismantled the British Empire. Truth possesses an unparalleled force. Humans are fallible, but by courageously acknowledging their mistakes and seeking atonement, they can find redemption. Conversely, the attempt to conceal even the smallest falsehood can lead to a mountain of sins. The path to liberation is unequivocal: it lies in truth. Truth is a soft pillow upon which one can rest their head and find peace. Falsehood, on the other hand, is a bed of thorns, offering no respite.
The path to progress is paved with the twin virtues of truth and discipline. A life without rules is akin to a ship without a rudder, adrift and directionless. By incorporating discipline into one's daily routine, individuals can lay a solid foundation for a fulfilling and prosperous life.
We have become entrenched in detrimental habits. In the United States, even a minute of tardiness can result in job loss. In stark contrast, our society seems to have a rather lax attitude toward punctuality and responsibility. How can individuals or nations achieve prosperity under such circumstances? The correlation between personal discipline and societal progress is undeniable.
Even with immense wealth, happiness, and success acquired through one's abilities and ingenuity, a life devoid of restraint is destined for ruin. Without temperance, individuals can succumb to unrestrained, hedonistic lifestyles, ultimately leading to their downfall. It is said that to truly gauge a person's character, one should bestow upon them great wealth and power. Their subsequent actions will reveal their true nature. Just as a tree bends with the weight of its fruit, a truly noble person remains humble in the face of prosperity. Those who lose sight of their boundaries and indulge in excess after achieving wealth are destined to face the consequences. Nature has a way of humbling the arrogant. Ravana, despite his intelligence, power, and opulent kingdom, met a tragic end, serving as a cautionary tale.
The path to success is arduous and time-consuming, while its downfall can be precipitous. Consequently, exercising self-control in the midst of triumph is a testament to one's discernment.
Being impoverished is not a moral failing. Indeed, adversity can foster extraordinary creativity. Diligence, honesty, moderation, and discipline are the cornerstones of a successful life. By embodying these qualities, one can overcome any obstacle and achieve their goals.
Embracing Gandhian ideals, especially in moments of fulfillment, can transform one's existence into a harmonious symphony of peace and benevolence.
The path illuminated by Mr Prakash K Shah's teachings serves as a beacon, guiding individuals towards achieving their aspirations far more effectively than mere hard work alone.
