Nirbhaya case Re enacted
On hearing about certain heinous
incidents that occur in the society, makes one’s heart tremble from the core.
The Nirbhaya incident that occurred in New Delhi, shook the whole country. Its
ramifications echoed across the streets of the Parliament. The government took
serious note of the whole incident and made the laws more stringent. Yet, how
such heinous incidents keep occurring in society is always surprising?
When a man becomes a beast, he breaks
all the boundaries of humanity and assumes the form of a monstrous devil. The
recent incident of rape in Aravalli district has left people in shame…
A small village of Malpur taluka had
risen itself, frenzily celebrating the Holi festival. In the night village
people had assembled in the open ground
to pay their obeisances by lighting the holy fire for Goddess Holika. A couple
residing in the outskirts of the village too had come to offer their prayers
leaving their two daughters asleep at home. People were dancing in trance to
the beats of the drumsticks hitting the big drums in unison. But amidst the
thunderous sounds of the drums ,none could hear the screams of a four and half
year old helpless girl.
When the couple returned home after the
Holi puja, their little daughter was not in the bed. They thought her
playing somewhere nearby.
The parents searched around but
couldn’t trace her out. Now they got panic stricken. Their hearts sank in
agony. “Where could their sleeping
daughter have gone?” A whirlwind of thoughts arose in an instant. “Where and in
what state she would be in? Who would have taken her away?”
People from the surrounding area too , assembled and started
searching the fields with torches and lanterns. A little away from the house as
light fell on the slope side of the field, a terrible scream emanated from the
person who saw that scene. A demonic figure of around twenty-four years of age
was ruthlessly tearing apart a four-and-a-half-year-old girl to satisfy his lust.
As light fell on this demonic figure, he fled nakedly from the place to save
his life .
…And a small girl was lying in a pool of
blood reeling in pain and agony. All hell broke loose for the parents. The
flames of the Holi puja had died down by now, but the flames that were rising
in the small girl’s life would never probably die down.
The shock was unbearable for the
parents. The entire incident was reported to the Malpur police station. The
girl child was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The
district police showed extreme seriousness regarding this heartbreaking and
sensitive case and were determined to find out the culprit and accord him the
strictest punishment. The alleged rapist was caught in a matter of few hours/no
time. This demonic act was condemned
from all sides.
The police didn’t rest by just
arresting the rapist but ensured that he would get seriously punished for his
heinous act. The L.C.B. PI C.P Vaghela and his team investigated the case on a war footing. Due to lack of evidence in many cases, the criminals go scot-free,
but in this case, the police were careful not to miss even the slightest bit.
The L.C.B. team after carrying out Panchnama
collected the necessary evidences. The clothes that the girl child was wearing at the time of the incident along
with the clothes of the demonic man were sent to the FSL. The girl child was
medically examined. All reports indicated the heinous act of the culprit.
Sanjay Kharat’s efforts to get the case
heard quickly in the Special court and for the rapist to be punished expeditiously
were great and his efforts were successful. The case was tried in a Special
court. Public prosecutor D.S. Patel also made a strong pleading in the court
and strengthened the case. Finally, everyone’s hard work paid off. In just a
short span of seven mon,ths the court handed down its verdict and sentenced the
verdict by inflicting a rigourous punishment of 20 years to the devil in human
garb. This was a historic verdict. The efforts of L.C.B. PI C. P. Vaghela, and PSI S. K. Desai in bringing the culprit to justice were admirable.
The role of all officers and the Public
Prosecutor in the entire case was instrumental in helping the victim’s family
to get speedy justice.
