“I am proud to announce that Kashyap ‘Kash’ Patel will serve as the next Director of the FBI.”: Donald Trump

(A succinct story by Ishvar Prajapati

Gujaratis possess a unique quality of being unable to conceal their pride, regardless of where they reside in the world. Their distinctive work ethic invariably draws attention. As a result of their acumen, ingenuity, and exceptional abilities, Gujaratis have ascended to positions of power in some of the world’s most influential nations. A prime example of this is Kashyap Patel, more commonly known as Kash Patel, whose name has emerged prominently in the recent US presidential elections.

The newly elected US president, Donald Trump, has bestowed a significant responsibility upon Kash Patel, a Gujarati of Indian origin. Trump has nominated Patel to serve as the Director of the FBI. Patel is widely considered to be a close confidant of Trump.

Kashyap Pramod Patel was born on February 25, 1980, in New York to a Gujarati family. Fearing the Ugandan dictator Idi Amin’s expulsion order, Patel’s parents migrated to the United States via Canada in 1970. His father obtained American citizenship in 1988 and secured a job with an airline. After completing his law degree in 2004, Patel began working as a public defender when he was unable to secure a position with a large law firm. However, he had to wait nine years to land his dream job.

Kash Patel joined the U.S. Department of Justice in 2013. After three years, in 2016, he was appointed as a staff member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, headed by Devin Nunes, a staunch ally of Donald Trump. Patel was involved in the committee investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election, a role that first brought him to Trump’s attention.

According to a report by *The New York Times, in 2019, President Trump allegedly pressured Ukraine to gather information about Joe Biden’s son, sparking outrage among his political opponents. To navigate the legal and political challenges of the situation, Trump assembled a team of advisors, including Kash Patel—a choice that reportedly surprised many observers.

After joining the Trump administration in 2019, Patel quickly climbed the ranks, earning successive promotions and establishing himself as a key figure within a short span of just 20 months. His rapid ascent and influence did not go unnoticed. In a report by *The Atlantic*, Patel was described as someone who would “do anything for Trump,” highlighting his unwavering loyalty to the former president.

Even within the Trump administration, where loyalty to the former president was a common trait, Kash Patel was regarded as one of his most steadfast allies. This reputation caused apprehension among several officials, who feared Patel’s potential influence. Concerns were raised that if Patel were to take control of agencies like the CIA or FBI, he might act solely at Trump’s direction.

Patel also played a key role in assisting with a book about Trump and served as a Senior Advisor to the Director of National Intelligence. In this position, he oversaw the operations of 17 intelligence agencies, engaging in significant matters of national security. During his tenure, he contributed to high-profile missions, including the elimination of ISIS leaders like Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Qasim al-Rimi, and the successful recovery of numerous American hostages.

After Trump left office, Patel remained actively involved in advancing the former president’s agenda. He authored *Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy,* a book that delves into his views on governance and democracy. Additionally, in an effort to bolster Trump’s appeal among younger audiences, Patel wrote a children’s book titled *The Plot Against the King,* portraying himself as a wizard character.

Kash Patel also oversees operations on Donald Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social. In addition, he served as a security advisor to Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Last month, at a Trump rally, Patel declared his intent to root out conspirators within the government and media. He vowed not to spare those who misled the American public or assisted Joe Biden in the presidential election.

Trump formally announced Patel’s nomination for a significant role through a post on Truth Social, highlighting Patel’s prior contributions and achievements. Trump praised Patel’s work in exposing corruption and defending justice, particularly his role in investigating the so-called “Russian bomb threat,” referring to him as an “America First” warrior. According to Trump, Patel has consistently prioritized the safety and interests of the American people, demonstrating unwavering dedication to these causes. In his post, Trump expressed pride in announcing that Kash Patel would serve as the next FBI Director.

Patel has been entrusted with addressing critical issues such as rising crime rates, criminal gangs, and the cross-border trafficking of drugs and humans. Trump also emphasized Patel’s mission to restore the FBI’s core values of fidelity, bravery, and integrity under the leadership of Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Although Kash Patel has firmly established himself in the United States, his roots trace back to Gujarat, India—a fact that instills a sense of pride among Gujaratis worldwide. Warm wishes for Patel’s continued success accompany this remarkable journey
